    Fine for what it is!!

The bullet appears to be a plated hollow point, and is the mildest load for the .500 S&W. There is a very small crimp, so I was concerned about the bullets moving forward in the chamber under recoil (IMO the greatest functional danger in a revolver....) But bullets are light, and pretty tight - and after 4 in the cylinder were fired D/A, the 5th (unfired) round only extended out 2 hundredths... I think these are fine for those who want to carry the 500 for defensive or plinking purposes.

    Chronotest!

Chronographed this load from a S&W 6.5" barrel. Chrony brand chronograph, 10' from the muzzle, air temp = 90*F. Avg vel = 1,250 fps Avg kinetic engery = 1,041 lb.-ft. VERY mild recoil in the 61 oz. Smith!

    Great low recoil "plinking" round

the ammo i have has a slight taper crimp to them. I shot off 10 in about 1 sec a round and they all performed perfect and hit a 8 inch plate @ 50yrds just fine. This is a fairly mild round in terms of 500sw so its great for practice or newbies to shoot. Great price with quality components. Thats a 5 in my book.

Great reduced recoil S&W 500 ammo

This is great ammo at the best price around. These are the best rounds to start out with. Let your significant other shoot these without too many worries.

    Shoots very well!

In my previous review I observed the cartridges lack a crimp, but that is not quite accurate, the case mouths still had a mild "flare" as is done during loading of lead or copper plated bullets. Since I plan to handload this round I purchased a set of dies and proceeded to rectify the situation by applying a nice roll crimp. Wasn't able to chronograph during the session, but the cartridges all functioned 100%, shot to point of aim, and the fired cases almost fell out of the chambers looking pristine. The load is quite "mild" in the big 500 6.5" revolver and with the gaping hollow cavity, plated slugs would probably make a pretty serious defense load....EASY to double-action a cylinderfull! But for the crimp issue this would be full 5 star ammo...and I would buy this ammo again...the price is right!

    no crimp

rounds lack any semblance of a crimp. Heavy revolver rounds are always crimped and while these may be "light" by .500 standards they are still HEAVY by the rules of gravity.
