    Good deal for good ammo

    I did some homework and found good results were obtained using Federal Premium HST .45 ACP 230 Grain self defense ammunition. There are a number of articles and videos to use. Lucky Gunner also has a good site comparing various ammunition performance. Federal HST in .45 ACP did very well, and isn't as hard to find (or as expensive) as some other ammunition. Tests don't guarantee real life performance but after reading and viewing, one gets a fair idea which ammo will likely perform better than others when self defense is the last resort. Besides the price was competitive, availability good, and shipping fast.

    There was an article written about how some hp ammo was inadequate in penetrating various materials, ie: drywall, plywood, vehicle glass, etc. The ballistics are such that a short barrel revolver or semi auto aren't as effective as a full length barreled (6" or more) weapon. I don't carry the typical compact weapon, preferring a full size 1911. It produces the numbers I want to stop the perp I aim at. These Federal Premium +p are plenty potent, much more so than the rounds I used in the Marine Corps. Ventura had the best deal on them, and shipped quickly.
